Garden clearance
When a garden has got away from you, a clearance gets it back to a blank, workable space in one go. PHX Services cuts back overgrowth, clears green waste and takes away old sheds, fencing and garden rubbish for homeowners and landlords across Buckinghamshire and surrounding areas.

What we do
A clearance is different from regular gardening. Instead of a tidy that keeps things ticking over, it is a one off reset for a garden that has been left for a season or several years. Brambles have crept across the lawn, borders have merged into the grass, and a corner has quietly filled with broken pots, old timber and the remains of a shed nobody uses.
We start by talking through what you want to keep and what can go. Some people want everything cut back to the boundary; others want a favourite shrub or a raised bed left untouched. Once that is agreed, the work is carried out in a sensible order so the garden opens up section by section and the waste leaves with us rather than sitting in a pile on the drive.
- Overgrowth cut back
- Green waste taken away
- Old sheds and fencing removed
- Clearances before a sale or move
When a garden needs clearing
Gardens rarely become overgrown overnight. A busy year, an illness, a long let to tenants or an empty property waiting for probate is usually enough. By the time someone decides to deal with it, the job feels too big for a weekend with a pair of shears and a few garden waste bags, and the council collection will only take so much at a time.
That is the point where a clearance makes sense. It deals with the backlog in one visit, so whatever you plan next, whether that is regular upkeep, a new lawn or putting the house on the market, starts from a clean slate.
Overgrown lawns, borders and hedges cut back
Long grass is cut down to a manageable height, borders are cleared of weeds and self seeded growth, and hedges that have spread outwards are cut back to a sensible line. Brambles, ivy and nettles are pulled away from fences, paths and walls so you can see the real shape of the garden again. Anything you have asked us to keep is worked around carefully.
Green waste taken away
A proper clearance creates far more green waste than most people expect. Cuttings, branches, weeds and roots are gathered as the work goes along and loaded straight into the van, so you are not left with a mountain of bags or a skip to arrange. When we leave, the waste goes with us.
Old sheds, fencing and garden rubbish
Many cleared gardens hide the same collection of leftovers: a rotten shed, broken fence panels, cracked plant pots, old garden furniture, rolls of wire and offcuts from past projects. These can be dismantled and taken away as part of the same job. For anything from the house as well, such as old furniture or bags of household rubbish, our rubbish removal service can be added to the visit.
- Old or rotten sheds taken down
- Broken fence panels and posts
- Garden furniture and pots
- Timber, wire and leftover materials
Clearing before a sale or after a move-in
A garden is one of the first things buyers notice, both in photographs and on a viewing. Clearing it before a sale shows the true size of the plot and removes the impression of a big job waiting for the new owner. It works the other way too: if you have just moved into a home with a neglected garden, a clearance gives you a clean space to plan around instead of guessing what lies under the brambles.
Landlords often use a clearance between tenancies for the same reason, so the next tenant starts with a garden they can actually look after.
Keeping it tidy afterwards
Once a garden has been cleared, it stays that way far more easily with a little regular attention. Our garden maintenance service covers ongoing visits for mowing, edging, hedge trimming and border tidying, either through the growing season or as occasional one off tidies.
Pressure washing patios once cleared
Clearing a garden often uncovers patios, paths and steps that have been buried under moss, algae and leaf litter. Once the plants and rubbish are gone, our pressure washing service can bring those hard surfaces back, which finishes the job off and makes the whole space feel usable again.
How a clearance is quoted
Every garden is different, so quotes are based on the scope discussed with you. The main things we look at are the size of the garden, how overgrown it is, what needs taking away, whether there are structures such as sheds to dismantle, and how easy it is to carry waste from the garden to the van. Photos of the garden from a few angles, plus a note of the access route, are the quickest way to get an accurate quote.
