Driveway Cleaning to Lift Moss, Algae and Grime

Driveway cleaning brings a tired, stained drive back to something you are pleased to park on. PHX Services cleans block paving, concrete and paved driveways for homes across Buckinghamshire and surrounding areas, including Milton Keynes, with the surface checked before any pressure is used.

What we do

A drive takes more punishment than any other part of the outside of a house. Tyres leave marks, oil drips from engines, leaves rot into the joints and moss creeps in from the edges where the sun never reaches. Over time the whole surface turns a dull green or grey.

We look at the surface and its condition first, agree what you want cleaned and confirm a price for that job before the equipment comes out of the van.

What happens on the day

Cars are moved off the drive and loose debris is swept away first. The surface is then cleaned section by section, working from the house outwards so dirty water runs away from the front door. Weeds and moss in the joints are lifted as we go, and the drive and nearby paths are rinsed down at the end so you are not left with a film of grime.

Block paving loses some of its jointing sand during a deep clean. We will tell you if the joints look like they need refilling afterwards, so the blocks stay firmly locked together.

Different driveway surfaces

Not every drive should be treated the same way. Block paving handles a thorough clean well. Plain concrete is tough but can show patchy marks if the pressure is uneven. Older or crumbling surfaces, and some types of natural stone, need a gentler approach. That is why the surface is checked before we start rather than after.

Driveway cleaning in Milton Keynes

Many Milton Keynes homes have block paved drives laid when the estates were built, and after years under trees and shaded by neighbouring houses they often turn green at the edges first. Driveways in the city's parking courts and shared drives can be cleaned too, provided the neighbours sharing them are happy for the work to go ahead.

Keeping it clean afterwards

A regular sweep, clearing fallen leaves before they rot and dealing with oil spots quickly all keep a drive looking better for longer. For the reasoning behind each step, and what results are realistic, see our pressure washing driveway guide.

Helpful answers

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to move my car before driveway cleaning?+

Yes, please. The whole surface needs to be clear, including bins and planters, so every part of the drive can be cleaned evenly.

Will cleaning remove oil stains from my drive?+

Cleaning usually lightens oil marks, but deep, old stains can soak into the surface and may not disappear completely. We will tell you what to expect when we look at the drive.

Can a shared driveway be cleaned?+

Yes, if everyone who shares it agrees. Let us know where the boundaries are and which parts are included.

How long does the drive take to dry?+

It depends on the weather and the surface, but most drives are dry enough to walk on soon after cleaning and fully dry within the day.
